About Icebreaker Sampo
The icebreaker Sampo sails from Kemi from 18 December 2026 to 3 April 2027, and its operator calls it the Official Icebreaker of Santa Claus. The 3.5-hour morning cruise includes floating in the ice in a survival suit, a walk on the frozen sea and a guided tour of the ship; the afternoon cruise adds lunch on board. Shuttle buses run from Kemi, Rovaniemi, Tornio, Haparanda and Oulu. The SnowCastle of Kemi itself is no longer built; a winter park has taken its place.
