About Tallinn by ferry: the back story

Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, lies across the Gulf of Finland. UNESCO inscribed the Historic Centre (Old Town) of Tallinn in 1997. Ferries leave from Helsinki’s West Terminal in Jätkäsaari and from the South Harbour.

The Old Town

Walk the walls and towers, then climb Toompea for the view over the red roofs.

The crossing

Eckerö Line and Tallink Silja sail from Helsinki; check each operator for times.

Take a morning ferry and an evening one back.

Our advice: carry your passport or ID card; Estonia is in the Schengen area.
