About Suomenlinna Sea Fortress
UNESCO inscribed Suomenlinna in 1991 and describes it as built in the second half of the 18th century by Sweden on a group of islands at the entrance to Helsinki’s harbour, “an especially interesting example of European military architecture of the time”. The HSL ferry from the Market Square takes about 15 minutes; any HSL ticket that includes zone A is valid (HSL). The Suomenlinna Museum, the Ehrensvärd Museum and Suomenlinna Church are on the islands (MyHelsinki).
